Suffering from the cold or flu?

While one thinks of their immune system to fight off viral and bacteria infections, the glandular symptom takes on a great deal of the role to do it. You thyroid if low, can make an illness last longer and have more symptoms. Same with the adrenals, your fight or flight mode goes into overtime and simply your body physically is wiped out. This causes completely out of sorts and having your friends worry about your panic mode. It's the worst feeling in the world to feel out of your body. Communicate with your doctor, you may need to increase your medication during a bout of illness. And, don't fret if no one understands. It takes one to know one.

On the road to recovery!

With the addition of hydrocortisone twice a day, I am feeling like my old self. My bloodpressure is not dipping so low (especially in the afternoons), my dizziness is better and I am less irritable handling daily tasks so much better! I have the right dosage of Synthroid. I also take Zoloft since many of the adrenal symptoms mimic panic/anxiety plus to ease into menopause (I'm perimenopausal). What a difference a little help with cortisol makes! My doctor rocks!

Welcome Friends!

Welcome Friends! Are you suffering from Hashimoto's thyroid and still not feeling well? Do you know that over 25% of Hashimoto's thyroid patients also have antibodies attacking the adrenal glands? The good news is that it's easily treatable with natural cortisol (i.e. such as hydrocortisone) and simple to diagnose. A cortisol and ACTH blood tests are all your doctor needs to determine if you have adrenal insufficiency.

The issue is that your cortisol levels change from AM to PM and act upon whatever stress you are feeling at the time of the blood tests. It will be important to find a caring doctor who understands the connection between thyroid dysfunction and adrenal insufficiency. You can have a long list of symptoms that begin even with the slightest reduction in cortisol before your adrenal glands completely shut down (i.e. Addison's Disease).

Adrenal insufficiency is a serious condition that requires medical attention. Make an appointment with your doctor today!
